PARENTS&KIDS: What Can I Do To Make Christmas Special?

Christmas is a wonderful time of the year - there's snow on the ground, people are more friendly and kind, children are playing outside with new toys and games that Santa has brought for them. There's an atmosphere of happiness and peace, which can only be created by the Christmas spirit in each and every one of us.

Christmas is also the time for family, friends and the most jolly occasion of the year. It is the time to relax, spend quality time- especially the kids who are the main highlight for this year’s event. However, what can we do to make Christmas really special and enjoyable for the whole family?

Here are some ideas and tips on how to make this Christmas special:

1. Create Meaningful Traditions

One way to make Christmas special is to create meaningful traditions for your family. You can get the kids involved in gift giving by having them make a list of their favorite things and then buy one or two of those items for each other. You can also make it a tradition for each member of the family to give one gift to someone else- a way of honing their generous hearts for the years to come!

This is a great way to get everyone excited about the holiday season and feel like they're participating in the festivities.

If you’re looking for gifts to give that brings twice the joy, The Plate Story has their “Do Good” project where they partnered with Hope for the Silent Voices (HFSV), a not-for-profit organization, to support the children in poverty all for the good cause of improving the lives of children in Cambodia.

TPS will donate 10% of its profits to support the children in poverty with the mission to support daily meals and education. You’re not only bringing joy to a loved one, you’re also giving to those in need.

2. Wear Christmas Pajamas

Wear Christmas pajamas with the family! The first thing on our list is easy—just wear Christmas pajamas with your family! It doesn't matter if you're an adult or a child, just get into some festive PJs and enjoy some quality time together. There's nothing quite like wrapping presents in front of a roaring fire while wearing your favorite holiday onesie (or reindeer antlers).

3. Make a Charcuterie Board with Hot Chocolate!

Charcuterie boards are a great way to celebrate the holidays! They're so easy, too—just get some good cheese, some cured meats, some nuts and dried fruits, and maybe some olives if you want to be fancy. If you're looking for something to serve with it, hot chocolate is the perfect combination!

Add on the fun and let your children decorate the board in their own style and enjoy every precious moment you make. This will make them have a special Christmas Day they will never forget.

4. Special Breakfast on Christmas Day

Christmas morning is the best time of year to make your kids' dreams come true. You can do it by serving them a special breakfast with all of their favorite meals lined in!

This is also the perfect chance to get everyone in the family together and reminisce about the year that's passed. You can also talk about what you're looking forward to next year—maybe it's planning a vacation, fitness goal or buying a new home. Or maybe it's just spending more time with each other.

5. Put down all distractions and focus on your family

We all know that Christmas is a time to spend with family. But sometimes it can be hard to get everyone together to enjoy the holidays and make memories.

Put down all distractions. You know what we mean—phones, laptops, tablets, anything that might pull you away from your loved ones. Your children will never be this young again. Your parents will never be this old again. And they won't be around forever. So make sure you don't miss out on this special opportunity to spend some quality time with them. If there's nothing more important than being with your family during this time of year, then it's time to put down the distractions and focus on them!
